Chocolate Bites of Awesome

I am addicted to sweets, and salty snacks, and well, pretty much anything food related. In an effort to start taking care of myself I have tried finding new and different ways to change my eating habits. I don't want some fad diet or anything that make me feel like I am depriving myself. Yeah, that's right I want to have my cake and eat that delicious sucker too!

So recently I found this post Dark Chocolate Detox Bites . I love it, it is super easy, they store well, and it takes very little effort on my part to make, plus when I want to I can get my sweet fix in without feeling guilty, or feeling like i am depriving myself of anything.

Now I am not saying these are the ultimate filling snack and with just one I am full. I have to use some self restraint, which for some may be easy, for me, I was never really concerned with it before so it is all new to me, and something I am getting better at each day.

So I made these a little bit bigger than the recipe suggests, and I did use different nuts and fruits as was suggested to fit my allergies.

Also since I did the shopping on my lunch break I was only able to get the bag of 60% dark chocolate, which for me might be just the right chocolate since I think any darker and it may be too bitter for my taste buds. So here I used pistachios, blanched almonds, dried cranberries, pecans, and golden raisins.

I melted the whole bag, well you know not the bag, but the delicious chocolates inside the bag! And I mixed and mixed, it stayed pretty fluid, well not runny or anything, throughout the process of making all the chocolates. I tried as the recipe suggested concentrating on one at a time, but after a couple minutes I just went whole hog and made a bunch of patties by dropping chocolate on the wax paper and then using the spoon to swirl it into a patty. As you can see in the baggie above I put everything I was going to top them with in one bag (I chopped the pistachios - it was cheaper to buy whole instead of crushed) to make it easier to just grab some and sprinkle.

Since I made them big and I used a whole bag I ended up with 24 of these beauties! I left some at home for others to enjoy and took some to work as I know the snack attacks happen since I am there most of my days. So here it is! I wanted to restart my blog, more specifically the food section with a positive outcome of following a recipe.

Don't worry there will be plenty of follies coming that maybe you can assist in telling me where I can improve, or even tips on what you have done to make things work.

Have patience with me as I am still re figuring out this blog thing.
